Scouting Trips Merit Programs

Group of Scouts With Their Rafting Gear On in Front of a Bus

As an alternative to a Maine High Adventure program, Northeast Whitewater custom tailors scouting trips and scout merit badge adventure programs. Your scouting troop and venturers can advance with Northeast Whitewater by participating in the merit badge programs we offer: Whitewater Merit Badge, Canoeing Merit Badge, First Aid Merit Badge, Camping Merit Badge, Cooking Merit Badge, Kayaking BSA Skill Award. Let Northeast Whitewater help your Girl Scout, Boy Scouts and Venturers with their merit badge quest. We take our responsibility as a scout trip and scouting program leader in Maine very seriously and know that you have a responsibility as a leader to the parents of your scouts to provide an experience that is exciting, yet safe. With Northeast Whitewater, you will combine an impressive learning experience, all the while having a boat-load of FUN! You will not only learn and train with our whitewater merit badge instructors and registered Maine guides, you will learn from our very own Eagle Scouts. We have created Northeast Whitewater’s Merit Badge Program to help scouts and troop leaders with opportunities for merit badge advancement without the traditional camp settings, as well as an alternative to other  scout outings and Maine High Adventure trips.

“On behalf of the Scouts and adults of Troop 47 I want to thank you for the “Most Excellent” training, excitement and fun your staff provided us. Judging from the smiles I have seen on the Scout’s (and the adult’s) faces when I ask them about their recent whitewater rafting experience its clear to me that Northeast Whitewater was the right choice…again! In particular we would like to thank you for being so accommodating and flexible with the training schedule and maximizing the actual time spent on the rivers and hands-on training in the boats…it couldn’t have been a better of an experience. Thank you!”

Scouts, Venturers and scouting troops from around the country have joined Northeast Whitewater as part of a trip to Maine High Adventure, the Allagash Wilderness Waterway, Mount Katahdin, and the West Branch of the Penobscot river. We are happy to provide instruction for Whitewater, Canoeing, Camping, Cooking, First Aid and Kayaking BSA skill award, on both full-day scout trips and camping trips. Some scout troop merit badge requirements allow for multi-day trips to complete, therefore we can accommodate a program for your Girl Scout, Boy Scout, Scouting troop and Venturers at one time or you can complete the merit badge requirements on your next trip to Northeast Whitewater in Maine. Scouts wishing to fulfill the requirements for the Whitewater Merit Badge will need to first complete the necessary first aid requirements or let us also help you with that, with our American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid.

All of our Scout Troop merit badge programs are custom tailored to your specific scouting troops needs. Whether your scout troop is looking for a two-day high adventure whitewater instruction and rafting trip or a overnight canoe camping wilderness experience, you have chosen the best in Maine for your quest in achieving your scout troop merit badge.

Whitewater Rafting BSA

By participating in Kennebec River Rafting or Penobscot River Rafting trips, your scouting troop and venturers can accomplish Whitewater Rafting BSA; all scouts must be active paddlers on a class I – IV river as engaged whitewater paddlers with our Registered Maine Whitewater Rafting Guides.  Our guides encourage the scouts to be active participants paddling when our Whitewater Rafting Guides provided commands and the scout troop learns about river hydrology, progression of the river, the equipment, all the while having a day of fun whitewater rafting with Northeast Whitewater.

Group pricing offered for 16 or more participants . Contact Northeast Whitewater for information on other trips and programs and pricing for your group. We look forward to hearing about what your troop is looking to get out of their Maine Scout Troop high adventure summer trip.
